Welcome Letter M.A. Students Fall 2007

Dear Incoming Students:
 
I am happy to welcome you to the Department of Economics at New York University for
the Fall 2007 semester and hope you will have a stimulating educational experience.
 
Please find included in this mailing the Fall 2007 Registration and General
Information packet, which you should find useful. I would like to draw your attention to the
math review course (a math “boot camp”) described in the newsletter (page 2).  This course will
be held Monday, August 27th through Wednesday, August 29th.

During the term, you can also see me in Room 825, 19 West 4th Street 8th floor, during my office
hours on Tuesday afternoons. (Please contact Nicki Rivers vr26@nyu.edu to schedule an
appointment.) In addition, Nicki Rivers and Marge Lesser are also available to help you get

As you are aware, the requirements for the Master of Arts degree consist of five core
courses, five electives, and the “special project in economics research” course.  Generally, it is
desirable to begin with as many of the core courses as possible since these provide the tools of
analysis.
